My Story

In 2008 I found myself divorced and feeling rejected and lonely. I put on a brave face – as I intellectually knew it was for the best – and continued to rebuild my life. And for a while, life seemed to change for the better. And truthfully it was. I met my now husband at the time and in 2012 our beautiful little girl was born. I’ve rebuilt my life….but the feelings I so desperately tried to ignore manifested as extra weight. At a doctor’s appointment in 2012 I weighed in at 110kg! (Of course I just had a baby so it was “understandable”.) If anyone asked, I was happy as the “big girl”. I enjoyed my snacking and reckless eating….but my body didn’t! I was out of breath, unfit and my sugar was sky rocketing. I had aches and pains regularly and every attempt at a diet, left me feeling like a failure! Fast forward to 2016 – now fitting snuggly in a size 44 - and I realised there had to be a better way! As an avid student of Your Body speaks your Mind (Deb Shapiro) and Louise Hay, I had long since understood the emotional connection behind illnesses, so I started researching the emotional connection behind excess weight. I was blown away by the information and I started tapping (EFT) and forgiving and loving – I was losing weight but it was a slow process…. At the end of 2016 I had a synchronistic introduction to the Banting lifestyle and I joined a coaching program where I learned all about the dangers of sugar and flours and what it means to eat healthy.  At my first weigh-in, I was 94kgs. Still obese by BMI standards! During the 12 weeks of the program I lost 10kgs. The lifestyle was easy to maintain and I continued… Fast forward to 2017 (and 2018) – now fitting snuggly in a size 34!!!! My transformation has been mind-blowing! And let me tell you…. Being the skinny girl, and feeling healthy is the best feeling ever! I love my body and I love the way I look. I love that I no longer feel guilty about what I eat, and my body loves the nutritious and healthy food that it now gets!

The Weight-Loss Journey

Although the Banting lifestyle was really the clincher in my eventual weight loss, I knew that I would’ve never found it as easy to do and lost the weight as dramatically as I did, if it wasn’t for the internal work I had done! Louise Hay who I profoundly respect, writes in her book Heal Your Body The probable causes of being overweight are:
  1. Fear, need for protection (the better you get at understanding your true needs and taking care of them and interrupt negative body image thoughts that feel like an attack on the body, the more this will cease).
  2. Running away from feelings (and these are from your internal guidance system, your signal that you have a belief, or need or feeling that needs attention.
  3. Insecurity, self-rejection (this is why bad body thoughts or negative body image thoughts and words must be interrupted and altered at all times).
  4. Seeking fulfilment(knowing and understanding that you are the love and acceptance that you crave).
  I knew that the mainstream thinking of embracing willpower to remain on a starvation diet has left so many women, feeling less than adequate and FRUSTRATED!  

And I wanted to help!

  I created a program where I combined my knowledge of food, body-mind connection, chakras and the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) to provide women with an all-round program to finally let go of their excess weight! We ran our first pilot program at the end of 2017. And WOW did it make a difference!!! We saw 6 beautiful women, not only lose weight but also grow in self-confidence and healing their addiction to food!

I realise now that I don’t need to use food as an emotional crutch!

Weight-Loss Journey program

I called it a journey because improving your life is never just a one-time affair.

Over a period of 3 months, we get together every Thursday. Each week we learn and explore a different aspect of weight gain and weight loss - given to you in bite-size pieces from real experience. Each lesson is filled with factual theoretical information and closed off with an exercise like EFT or meditation to embed what was learned. The rest of the week is left for you to assimilate the information and practice the exercises more. And as your coach, I will always be there to assist and support wherever needed. It will be a journey of self-discovery and personal growth – weight loss is actually just the cherry on the top. See the full program here. One step at a time, you will learn to shift your relationship with yourself - and your body -from one of fear to one of love.  You will begin to integrate the various parts of yourself -mind, body, and spirit - to become, once again, the beautiful and peaceful person you were created to be.

2018 Journey

The next Weight-Loss Journey will kick off on the 8th of February. We’ll get together every Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 (Randburg).
